here's the blocks layed out for gracie's quilt. it's actually just really BIG bowtie blocks. i wanted the blocks to be big enough to show some of the playful fabric. cute little snails and kittens.
I'm plotting in my head a wall-hanging with a schoolhouse on it. These are the bricks!
My sister lives in a schoolhouse that she and her husband purchased a few years ago and are fixing up. They're doing an awesome job, btw. They were even featured in an episode of "If Walls Could Talk" on HGTV!

a little adaptation from the pattern offered from creative little daisy, i'm whipping up a few key chains. think i'll try a few that are a little wider with the d-ring on them.

just trying out a new technique i learned from a carol taylor lecture. rene has the book, so not even sure i'm doing it correctly, but i was pleased with the effect! the block is made from pre-purposed fabric (pants and a dress in its past life). the backing was a curtain. just the red square came from my quilting scraps.
This was my Great Grandmother's sewing machine. We lived next door to her when I was a child and she was a seamstress by trade, so I remember people from the small town coming and going all the time for measurements and fittings. This is my MOST favorite machine to sew on. It runs so smoothly! However, other than my own diligent cleaning and oiling, it hasn't been professionally serviced in over 20 years! lol (It has to be taken cabinet and all) I'm gonna break down and bring the old girl to Gloversville in a week or two for a full spa treatment. She still runs beautifully and quiet, but the timing is a little off.
thought i had many more halloween fabrics to pick from, but some are in darker tones and some are bright oranges and such. this kitty fabric was one of my favs, so just pawed thru the stash until i came up with a couple complimenting fabrics. i like how the borders are coming out! (just not very halloweeny)
well... pretty tired right now, so i'll upload some pics tomorrow, but we did the apple picking today. have plenty for pies and applesauce. yumm! couple nice pics and the colors are starting to get pretty out there!
